Hello, hello! I’m honored to be nominated by Tom Burton from Slumdog Soldier for the Sunshine Blogger Award. I love the idea of this award and have seen it popping up all over the place on other blogs, so I’m excited to get to complete it for myself.
The aim of the Sunshine Blogger Award is to help spread love and support for each other throughout the blogging community, so if you’re nominated, here are some rules:
- Thank the person who nominated you and provide a link back to their blog so others can find them.
- Answer the 11 questions asked by the blogger who nominated you.
- Nominate 11 other bloggers and ask them 11 new questions.
- Notify the nominees about it on one of their own posts.
- List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo on your post and/or your blog site.
- Where are you from?
I’m from the United States, currently in college in North Carolina.
- Do you think of yourself more as an early bird or night owl?
When I was younger I always considered myself as more of an early bird, but university has turned me into more of a night owl almost by necessity. I was just talking to my roommate the other week how it used to be a special and rare thing to stay up until midnight, but now it’s unusual to go to bed that early.
- What is your birthstone?
- What’s your favourite season of the year and why?
I hate hot weather, so I’m going to say winter. But early winter with cold air stinging your lungs and mugs of tea and layered coats and first flurries, rather than late winter where all the snow has turned to sludge and everyone is complaining about spring not arriving yet.
- What’s a favourite quote that’s really inspired you?
I like that this says A favorite quote, because let’s be honest, I’ve got too many. Here’s a simple one from C.S. Lewis:
Courage, dear heart.
- If you could choose one fantasy world to visit for a day, which one would it be?
I’m so torn between options, but since I’ve got Narnia on the brain from the last question, I think I’m going to go with it. It’s too much of a fairytale to pass up.
- How do you like to wind down after a busy day?
I’m a fairly intense introvert, so I really just like to be alone after a busy day. Maybe binge a few tv shows, maybe read an entire book in one sitting, maybe do some writing. Basically, turn off the lights and light me a scented candle and I’m good.
- What would your dream job be?
I’m not going to say author. I’m not going to say author. I’m not going to say author. Right now, I’m looking into the field of scientific editing and publishing, which combines my interests in writing and chemistry and also plays into some of my more pedantic neuroses.
- Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging for a couple reasons. First, I realized I was terrified of basically everything and I wanted to train myself into becoming more confident and comfortable in semi-social places. Second, I wanted a place to share things that I write, both fiction and non. I’ve never really shared any of my stories or other writings before, so I wanted an outlet, and I’m glad to have found it here.
- What have you enjoyed most about blogging so far?
This may sound a little weird, but I’ve really enjoyed just adding to my portfolio and having this actual log of myself and my opinions and interests. Even though it’s all online and digital, it feels concrete and substantive in a way, like I’m building on something every week when I post. I’m glad I’ve kept up with it, even though I wasn’t sure it would last two days when I first started.
- Which of your own blog posts would you recommend to new readers first?
I’m Nostalgic and I Don’t Care because rants are fun.
Poetry Month: April 2018 because I’m unjustifiably proud of a couple of the poems in there.
On Memories and Missed Opportunities because I don’t know; it feels important somehow.
